Bill McGovern cause of death – Former collegiate football and NFL assistant William E. McGovern, better known as Bill McGovern, died Tuesday (May 30, 2023) at the age of 60 after a battle with cancer, according to UCLA.

McGovern was UCLA’s defensive coordinator in 2022, however, he was unable to complete the season due to health difficulties.
He began working as an administrator for the program early this year.
In the early 1980s, McGovern was an All-American defensive back at Holy Cross.

His college coaching career began in 1985 as an assistant at Pennsylvania and stretched more than three decades, including stops at Holy Cross, UMass, Boston College, Pittsburgh, and Nebraska before joining Kelly’s UCLA staff last season after spells in the NFL.
McGovern first entered the NFL coaching ranks in 2013, when he was hired as linebackers coach by the Philadelphia Eagles, who were then led by Kelly. He held that position until 2015 before moving on to coaching the linebackers for the New York Giants from 2016 to 2019.
McGovern returned to the NFL in 2021 as the Chicago Bears inside linebackers coach, following a year as a defensive assistant at Nebraska.
Colleen McGovern, his wife, and their three kids, Amanda, Delainey, and Mackenzie, survive him.
He was on the ballot for this College Football Hall of Fame class at the time of his death.
