Wiener was sister to infamous Ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff who died last year while serving a 150-year sentence in federal prison.
The police found 87-year-old Sondra Wiener and her 90-year-old husband Marvin, dead from gunshot wounds.
Detectives from the Violent Crimes Division, upon arrival on the scene, said it appears to be a murder-suicide, although the authorities have not disclosed which party carried out the murder-suicide.

Wiener’s late brother, Madoff, was the mastermind behind a $20 billion Ponzi scheme — the largest financial fraud in history.
Family tragedies followed his conviction. Madoff had two sons, both of whom worked for his firm. Mark Madoff, the older son, died by suicide in 2010, his other son Andrew died of cancer in 2014.
Madoff and Wiener’s brother Peter also served a 10-year prison sentence for his involvement in the scheme. He was sentenced in 2012 and was released from prison in November 2019, to home confinement. His home confinement ended in August 2020.
