Bernard Wright was born on November 16, 1963, to Steve Novosel and Roberta Flack.

Wright’s father, Steve Novosel, Steven was an American jazz bassist. Steve is of Croatian-American origin.
Steve’s kind of music was a mixture of various genre, including traditional jazz, swing, bebop, mainstream and avant garde.
Though left-handed, Steve learnt how to play the double bass in a right-hand set up.
Steve went ahead to become a Double Bass instructor at the American University and the University of the District of Columbia.
He remains a relevant icon in the jazz music sector.

Roberta Flack
Wright’s mother, Roberta Flack is also an American singer.
Flavck is most famous for the hit single “Killing Me Softly with His Song”. She also released several tracks that turned out to be great hits. Some of them are “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face”, “Feel Like Makin’ Love”; and “Where Is the Love” and “The Closer I Get to You”.
Flack has also done collaborations with musicians Leonard Cohen and members of The Beatles.
