Bernard Cribbins was the son of Ethel Clarkson and John Edward Cribbins. His mother, Ethel was a cotton weaver and she died in 1989. His father, Edward was a World War I veteran, he was born in 1896 and died in 1964.

Although Bernard mentioned them a few times in the media space, there isn’t much information available on them on the internet.

Cribbins became known in the UK for his successful novelty records including The Hole in the Ground and Right Said Fred and appearances in comedy films including Two-Way Stretch and Carry On series.
Cribbins was set to return alongside David Tennant and Catherine Tate in a 2023 Doctor Who episode celebrating the program’s 60th anniversary, which he had been filming before his death in July 2022.
