According to the New York Police Department, he died in what looked like a suicide. He was found near his residence, 56 Leonard Street, a skyscraper known as the Jenga building because of its stacked architectural design, and appeared to suffer from injuries from a fall from an elevated position.

Emergency medical officers pronounced him dead on the scene, and the New York City Medical Officers are investigating what caused his death.
Arnal joined Bed Bath & Beyond as its chief financial officer in May 2020 as part of an executive shake-up led by the then chief executive, Mark Tritton, who left in June.
Bed Bath & Beyond released a statement about Arnal’s death, saying it was “profoundly saddened by this shocking loss. Our focus is on supporting his family and his team and our thoughts are with them during this sad and difficult time”.
