According to sources cited by MyNewsGh.com, Bawumia will soon submit the chosen candidate’s name to the NPP National Council for approval before making a formal announcement.
While the identity of the nominee remains confidential, reports indicate that influential figures such as Apostle Opoku Onyinah, Chief of Staff Frema Opare, and Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum are not among those considered for the position.

Following his victory in the NPP flagbearer race, Bawumia had requested additional time to consult widely with key stakeholders before finalizing his running mate selection.
With the elimination of prominent contenders like Onyinah, Frema, and Adutwum, speculation suggests that Manhyia South Member of Parliament, Matthew Opoku Prempeh, may emerge as a potential running mate.
The decision to potentially select a candidate from the Ashanti Region, a stronghold for the NPP, underscores the party’s strategic approach to securing victory in the upcoming polls.
