During his tour of the Volta Region, Dr. Bawumia addressed concerns raised by citizens regarding the poor state of roads, particularly at a meeting with the clergy.
He emphasized the government’s need for funding to undertake infrastructure development and suggested the reintroduction of a broadened road tolling regime as a viable solution.
Dr. Bawumia highlighted the importance of innovative funding mechanisms, such as road tolling, to generate revenue for infrastructure projects.
He emphasized that the private sector could also play a crucial role in financing road infrastructure through partnerships.
“It is a fundamental mistake of the government to place all road projects on the budget. Government doesn’t have enough money, and the private sector has to be brought in,” Dr. Bawumia stated.

Accompanied by NPP leadership, including National Chairman Mr. Stephen Ntim and Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Mr. Stephen Asamoah Boateng, Dr. Bawumia engaged with various groups, including the Muslim community and the Volta Region House of Chiefs.
His engagements also included a forum with the youth at the Ho Technical University before proceeding to the Oti Region on Friday.
