Bart Bryant was killed on Tuesday in a two-vehicle crash along State Route 33 in unincorporated Polk City. He and his wife Donna were reportedly waiting in a white Volkswagen SUV at a time when construction crews, equipped with flags, cones, and signs, stopped traffic in the northbound and southbound directions of SR 33.

Unfortunately, a black 2011 Ford F-150 pickup truck was being driven southbound at roughly 60 mph when he failed to stop. The vehicle was driven by 21-year-old Mark Farkas of Clermont. The two vehicles went on to crash along State Route 33 in unincorporated Polk City.

By the time the first responders arrived, the 59-year-old Auburndale golfer Bart Bryant was unresponsive and CPR was immediately administered. He was then transported to a local hospital where he later passed away as a result of his injuries.

Bart Bryant’s 49-year-old wife, Donna, on the other hand, was transported to an area hospital and had sustained only minor injuries. Farkas was, however, not injured.
