American actor, Barry Newman has been reported dead by his wife, Angela Newman. According to her, the actor died on May 11, 2023, at age 92. No cause of death was announced, however, he was diagnosed with vocal-cord cancer in 2009.

He bagged his first acting job in Herman Wouk’s first comedy Nature’s Way, in which he played as a jazz musician. He went on to star in the New York production of Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap.

Newman also starred in several Broadway productions including What Makes Sammy Run, Night Live, America Hurrah, and more. He also starred in the daytime drama as attorney John Barnes in The Edge of Night.
He appeared in 1960s Pretty Boy Floyd and made his debut breakthrough role in The Lawyer (1970). In 1974, he appeared in the TV series Petrocelli.
Newman was best known for his role as Kowalski in the 1971 film Vanishing Point. Directed by Richard C. Sarafian, the role was originally supposed to be played by Gene Hackman, but 20th Century Fox insisted on using Newman.
