Confirmation of the bridge collapse came from Detective Niki Fennoy of the Baltimore Police Department, who stated that authorities were alerted at 1:35 a.m. ET about the partial collapse and the possibility of workers being in the water.

According to reports, the vessel involved in the collision was the DALI, a 948-foot container ship sailing under the flag of Singapore.

Its partial collapse marks a significant disruption to traffic and poses a significant engineering challenge for authorities tasked with its restoration.
