Muhammad was appointed Southern Regional Minister, giving her control over Nation of Islam mosque activities in Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and some of Tennessee in addition to managing day-to-day operations at the mosque.
The Georgetown University Law Center awarded her a Juris Doctor in 1975. But in 2013, she was forced to stop practicing law. The New York Bar Association eventually accepted her as a member.
