Brazilian singer, Astrud Gilberto has died at the age of 83. No cause of death was revealed but it was reported that she died on Monday, June 5, 2023.

Tributes have been pouring in on social media after her death was announced.
“We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of bossa nova singer Astrud Gilberto. One of the most important figures of the bossa nova movement, she worked with Antonio Carlos Jobim on developing bossa nova, a musical style that combined Brazilian samba rhythms and jazz,” The Jazz Estate wrote.
“Astrud Gilberto taught me that while listening to songs you can listen to flowers at the same time. Anyway, her voice sounds like a lily of the valley fed with dew. RIP,” Synekura Audio.
