He started all 14 of his games at left tackle as a senior in 2022, and after allowing only three sacks on almost 1,050 snaps, he was selected third-team all-conference.

He helped the offense finish third in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in terms of points per game, second in terms of passing yards per game and overall yards per game, and first in terms of running. He blocked for quarterback Drake Maye. Richards chose to enter the 2023 NFL Draft even though he still has one year of eligibility left.
