He started all 14 of his games at left tackle as a senior in 2022 and was chosen third-team all-conference after allowing just three sacks on almost 1,050 snaps.
He provided blocking for quarterback Drake Maye, helping the offense finish first in rushing, second in passing and total yards per game, and third in points per game in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Richards decided to join the 2023 NFL Draft despite having one year of eligibility left. At the end of his career, he had made 38 starts, including 34 straight at left tackle and one at left guard.
