A Russian attack on Sumy is said to have killed one of Ukraine’s most promising young sambo fighters, a fighting sport loved by Vladimir Putin.

Artyom Priymenko, 16, was claimed to have been slain together with his entire family when bombs exploded in the ravaged city.
According to reports, they were among the 21 people killed in the strike that ended late on Monday.
According to his coach, Evgeny Leonenko, the teen champion’s father Vitaly, mother Ekaterina, paternal grandmother, and two younger siblings named Egor and Kirill died alongside him.
“This is a big loss for the sambo wrestlers’ family, his relatives, and all of us.”

Sambo is a popular Russian martial art that originated in the 1920s when Red Army fighters developed their hand-to-hand combat technique.
“Artyom was a multiple Ukrainian Sambo Championship winner,” Mr Leonenko stated.
“He earned a gold medal in the 88 kg weight class last year in Kherson.”
“He was selected for the Ukrainian national team to compete in the World Cup in the Netherlands.”
“He seemed promising.”
According to accounts, a humanitarian corridor opened at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, allowing 5,000 people to flee, but the terrible midnight blast that killed the kid wrestler and his family occurred roughly 11 hours earlier.
