Thomas Townsend (also known as Tommy), was born on November 12, 1996. He is an American football punter for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL).
Tommy attended high school at William R. Boone High School in Orlando, Florida. He played his freshman year at the University of Tennessee before returning to Florida to play at the University of Florida.

The Townsend brothers, were teammates last season when the Chiefs signed Johnny to their practice squad for insurance in case then-rookie Tommy was sidelined.
Johnny Townsend punted two times for the Chiefs on Sunday, averaging 45.5 yards with a long of 50 yards. Tommy Townsend will be out because he is yet to clear the NFL’s COVID-19 protocol.
Kansas City, which signed Townsend’s brother Johnny Townsend to its practice squad on Thursday, activated Johnny on Saturday and he took his brother’s place during a 36-10 rout of the Steelers at Arrowhead Stadium.
