Morale among Russian troops has dropped to the point that some units are “surrendering” to Ukrainian soldiers without a fight.

An official who spoke with news men, did not say how many of the soldiers — who are apparently facing fueling and food shortages — have surrendered, but said they are noticing “certain risk-averse behavior by the Russian military.”
Service members of pro-Russian troops in uniforms without insignia are seen atop of a tank in the separatist-controlled settlements of Mykolaivka and Donetsk.

“The Russians have been surprised by some of the morale problems that they’re experiencing and I think they’re none too pleased about the logistics and sustainment challenges they’ve had,” an official said during a press briefing.
The official also described many of the Kremlin’s troops as “conscripts” and “very young men” who haven’t been well-trained and weren’t fully briefed on the scope of what they would be doing when invading.
