Quaker Oats are made from 100% whole-grain oats, which means they contain all three parts of the grain: the bran, the endosperm, and the germ. Oats are naturally gluten-free but may contain traces of wheat, rye, or barley due to cross-contamination during farming or processing.

Quaker Oats was founded in 1877 by Henry Parsons Crowell, who bought a bankrupt oat mill in Ravenna, Ohio. He was the first to use a national magazine advertising campaign for breakfast cereal and introduced the cylindrical package that is still used today.
The Quaker Oats logo features a man in Quaker garb, but he is not a real person or a real Quaker. The founders chose the name Quaker because they wanted to associate their product with the qualities of honesty, integrity, and purity that Quakers were known for.

The logo has been updated several times over the years, but the Quaker man has always remained. Quaker Oats is currently owned by PepsiCo, which acquired the company in 2001 for $14 billion.
PepsiCo mainly wanted to get hold of Gatorade, a sports drink brand that Quaker had bought in 1983. Quaker Oats also owns other brands such as Life Cereal, Chewy Granola Bars, and Aunt Jemima.
Quaker Oats was the first food brand to receive approval from the FDA for a health claim on its label. In 1997, Quaker Oats was allowed to state that “soluble fiber from oatmeal as part of a low saturated fat, low cholesterol diet, may reduce the risk of heart disease.” This claim is based on scientific evidence that oats can lower cholesterol levels and improve blood pressure.
