Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse have been friends for 30 years, but when life intervened, what was once a joyous and spontaneous friendship dwindled to the old phone call or occasional catch-up.

When Mortimer met Whitehouse originally, it was the late 1980s and they were both young comedians on the alternative comedy circuit. Whitehouse had gone to watch a Vic and Bob show at the Albany Empire, in London. Remembering the show, years later, Whitehouse quipped: “I don’t like to admit it, but I was a fan.”

Will There Be Another Series of Mortimer and Whitehouse Gone Fishing?

A fifth series was announced in June 2022 for broadcast later in the year. An hour-long Christmas special – Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Christmas Fishing – was broadcast on 13 December 2020.
