Gillian Flynn’s books have been translated into 40 languages and have sold over 15 million copies worldwide, with Gone Girl alone selling more than 15 million copies according to The Washington Post in 2016.

Gillian Flynn grew up in the Coleman Highlands neighbourhood of midtown Kansas City. Her parents, Judith Ann Schieber and Edwin Matthew Flynn were both professors at Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley. Flynn’s mother was a reading-comprehension professor and her father was a film professor.
Gillian Flynn received her high school education at Bishop Miege High School and graduated in 1989. She then attended the University of Kansas, where she earned undergraduate degrees in English and journalism.
Gillian Flynn wrote and produced the HBO limited series adaptation of Sharp Objects—for which she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award and a Writers Guild of America Award.
