Bernie Taupin and his songwriting partner, Elton John have been friends for 50 years. According to Taupin, he now considers John as part of his family.

“When we get together, it’s like any other couple who are friends and have a history; you fall into conversation very easily,” Bernie Taupin told The Daily Telegraph.

He also added that his wife, Heather Lynn, and John’s husband, David Frunish are also very good friends.

“It’s really all in the family, there’s a lot of trust and genuine affection,” he added.

Bernie Taupin still writes for Elton John, he has confirmed it himself. He once shared that he would be writing a few songs for John before he leaves for his concert.

“Before Elton goes to Australia for his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, I am planning on writing a flood of material for him because he wants to write while he’s there,” he said.
