Carl Reiner is the father of Rob Reiner. Carl Reiner was an American actor, stand-up comedian, director, screenwriter and author whose career spanned seven decades.

He was the recipient of many awards and honours, including 11 Primetime Emmy Awards, a Grammy Award, and the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

He was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 1999.

Rob Reiner followed in his father’s footsteps as he is also an actor, director and producer.

Reiner was recognised by the Directors Guild of America with nominations for the coming-of-age comedy-drama film Stand By Me (1986), as well as in the romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally…(1989), and the military courtroom drama A Few Good Men.
