Annika Sörenstam First Husband: Who is David Esch?

David Esch is the first husband of Annika Sörenstam a Swedish former professional golfer.

She met her first husband, David Esch, in 1994 on the driving range at Moon Valley Country Club in Phoenix, Arizona, where she was an LPGA rookie practising for a tournament and he worked for club manufacturer Ping.

The former couple got engaged at the 1995 Evian Masters and married in Lake Tahoe on 4 January 1997. They divorced in 2005.

Rumours of the couple’s troubled marriage erupted in 2004, when David Esch was usually absent from his wife’s game. Annika Sörenstam confirmed the news of their breakup.

“I want to confirm that I have filed for divorce,” further adding, “We are working toward an amicable resolution, and we appreciate the media’s respect for our privacy.”

Annika Sörenstam is considered as one of the greatest female golfers of all time. She has won 90 international tournaments as a professional before retiring from competitive golf at the end of the 2008 season, making her the female golfer with the most wins.

She has won 72 official LPGA tournaments, including 10 majors, as well as 24 other foreign tournaments. She returned from retirement after reaching 50 and won the 2021 U.S. Senior Women’s Open.
