Former captain of the Angolan senior national men’s basketball team, Ângelo Victoriano, has passed away at the age of 56.

The sad news was confirmed by sources close to the family in the early hours of Saturday, April 13, 2024.
Ângelo Victoriano, born on February 8, 1968, began his remarkable sporting journey at the age of 14, in 1982, at Nova, Bairro da Maianga.
By the age of 16, he had joined Petro de Luanda, and soon after, he earned a spot on the Junior National Team, gearing up for the African Cup of Nations in Mozambique.

Throughout his illustrious career, the former winger achieved numerous accolades, including four national champion titles with the Tricolores in the senior class, six with the Rio Seco Military, and multiple victories with other renowned teams such as Aviadores and Queluz of Portugal.
Ângelo Victoriano’s prowess extended beyond national borders, as he secured three trophies from African clubs. His international journey included notable appearances at the World Cup in Argentina (1990), Canada (1994), and the United States (1998).
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the sport, Ângelo Victoriano was honored last year in Manila, capital of the Philippines, where he was immortalized on the FIBA-World Walk of Fame during the congress of the international governing body for basketball.
