Angela Lansbury Obituary

Dame Angela Brigid Lansbury DBE was an Irish-British and American actress and singer who has appeared in numerous films, plays, and television shows.

Lansbury was born on October 16, 1925, in the central London district of St Pancras to an upper-middle-class family.

Her career in the entertainment industry spanned over 80 years, much of it in the United States; her work received widespread international attention.

Angela Lansbury died on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, according to her family. She was 96 years old.

Lansbury received an Honorary Academy Award, a BAFTA Lifetime Achievement Award, a Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement, five more Tony Awards, six Golden Globes, and an Olivier Award.

She was also nominated for a slew of other industry honours, including three Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress, 18 Primetime Emmy Awards, and a Grammy Award

Queen Elizabeth II made Lansbury a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2014.

She is survived by her three children, Anthony, Deirdre, and David, her three grandchildren, Peter, Katherine, and Ian, as well as five great-grandchildren and her brother, producer Edgar Lansbury.
