Andy Pettitte agreed to terms with the New York Yankees on a three-year, $25.5 million contract on January 26, 2000. The team exercised an option for the 2003 season worth $11.5 million.

He agreed to a three-year, $31.5 million contract with the Houston Astros in 2004. His return to the Yankees would pay him on one-year contracts for the rest of his career, earning him $16 million in 2007, $16 million in 2008, $5.5 million in 2009, and $11.75 million in 2010.

Following a one-year retirement in 2011, he signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract with the Yankees in 2012, followed by a one-year, $12 million contract before retiring for good in 2013.
