Sally Jessy Raphael, born Sally Lowenthal, is an American former tabloid talk show host best known for her long-running program The Sally Jessy Raphael Show.

Sally was first married in 1956 to Andrew Vladimir, with whom she had two daughters, Allison and Andrea.

Andrew Vladimir was a professor of hospitality at Florida International University in Miami. Unfortunately, their marriage ended in divorce after seven years.

Their daughter Allison tragically passed away at the age of 33 on February 2, 1992, due to an accidental overdose involving a combination of prescribed and over-the-counter medications.

Allison’s death was a significant loss for Sally, who also has two grandsons, Max and Kyle.

In 1963, Sally married Karl Soderlund, who would later become her manager, playing a pivotal role in her career.

Together, they adopted a son, Jason, and cared for three foster children. Their marriage lasted 57 years until Karl’s death in 2020 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Throughout her career, Sally Jessy Raphael was known for her candid and compassionate approach to talk show hosting, tackling a wide range of topics with her guests.

Her pioneering work in daytime television left a lasting impact on the genre, and she remains a respected figure in the history of American talk shows.
