Mitchell is the Chief Foreign Affairs and Washington Correspondent for NBC News, and she covered the 2008 presidential election campaign for NBC News broadcasts such as NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, Today, and MSNBC.
She hosts Andrea Mitchell Reports on MSNBC weekdays from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. ET, has appeared on and guest hosted Meet the Press, and is a frequent guest on Hardball with Chris Matthews and The Rachel Maddow Show.

Mitchell has been nominated for 16 News & Documentary Emmy Awards. She won the award for Outstanding Coverage of a Breaking News Story in a Regularly Scheduled Newscast for “NBC Nightly News” in 2009 and Outstanding Live Coverage of a Current News Story – Long Form for the NBC News special “Malaysia Flight 17” in 2015.
Most of her nominations have been for “NBC Nightly News” or NBC News specials. The News & Documentary Emmys honored Mitchell with Lifetime Achievement Emmy in 2019.
