Over the past decade, the AMVCA has been a platform that recognizes talent, celebrates artistry, and nurtures various crafts in the African film and television industry. The highly anticipated 10th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards recently concluded after a thrilling and star-studded two-day celebration.

This year’s event took place on May 10 and 11, 2024, featuring a range of activities such as the Young Filmmakers Day, the Cultural Day Celebration, and the main Awards Night where the winners were announced.

The African film and television community came together to honor exceptional talent and creativity, showcasing gripping performances and captivating storytelling that exemplified the best of African cinema.
The awards night was hosted by renowned presenter IK Osakioduwa, with industry luminaries like Richard Mofe Damijo, Joke Silva, Kehinde Bankole, Wale Ojo, Funke Akindele, Ireti Doyle, Shaffy Bello, Iya Rainbow, Femi Adebayo, Odunlade Adekola, Tobi Bakre, Layi Wasabi, Toyin Lawani, and many others in attendance.

Reflecting on the 10th edition, Dr. Busola Tejumola, Executive Head of Content and Channels, West Africa, MultiChoice, expressed pride in the growth and quality of submissions over the years.
The event featured 28 categories, with winners selected by a jury led by filmmaker Femi Odugbemi.

Notable highlights included “Breath of Life” winning five awards, Kehinde Bankole clinching Best Lead Actress for the second time, and special recognitions for Iya Rainbow, RMD, and Chimezie Imo.
The AMVCA continues to be a beacon for excellence in African television and film, celebrating the industry’s achievements and growth.
