The American flags are at half-mast today to show respect to and memory for Peace Officers Memorial Day.

President Biden designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day, and the week in which it falls as Police Week. He called on all governors to direct flags to be flown at half-staff on Sunday.

This comes a day after Biden ordered flags to be flown at half-mast in memory of the one million American lives lost to COVID-19. Under this order, flags are to remain at half-mast until sunset on Monday, May 16.
Virginia governor, Glen Youngkin, as well as others announced on Sunday that all flags of the United States of America and state flags will fly at half-mast on all state and local buildings and grounds.
