David Benioff is an American writer, director and producer who is married to American actress Amanda Peet.

The couple got married in a traditional Jewish ceremony in New York City on September 30, 2006. They are the parents of three children. The family splits its time between Manhattan and Beverly Hills.
Along with his collaborator D. B. Weiss, David Benioff is best known as co-creator and showrunner of Game of Thrones (2011–2019), the HBO adaptation of George R. R. Martin’s series of books A Song of Ice and Fire.

He wrote the screenplay for Warner Bros. Pictures’ mythological epic Troy (2004), for which he was paid $2.5 million. He also wrote the screenplay for Marc Forster’s 2005 psychological thriller Stay, starring Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts.
His screenplay for The Kite Runner (2007), based on E.M. Forster’s novel of the same name, was his second collaboration with Forster. In September 2020, it was announced that Benioff, Weiss, and Alexander Woo will write and executive produce a Netflix series based on The Three-Body Problem trilogy.
