Brazilian mixed martial artist Amanda Lemos, born May 22, 1987, participates in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s strawweight class. She is ranked #5 in the UFC women’s strawweight rankings as of August 8, 2023, and #14 in the women’s pound-for-pound rankings.
Lemos made her promotional debut against Leslie Smith at UFC Fight Night: Nelson vs. Ponzinibbio on July 16, 2017, filling in for the injured Lina Länsberg on short notice. She was knocked out in the second round of the lopsided battle.

News of Lemos’ two-year suspension by USADA for testing positive for stanozolol and its metabolite from a sample collected on November 8, 2017, surfaced on March 28, 2018. On August 19, 2023 at UFC 292, Lemos is slated to compete against Zhang Weili for the UFC Women’s Strawweight Championship.

Jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai, and judo are all sports that Amanda’s father, Marcelo Ribas, practices and teaches. Before Amanda joined a Brazilian national young squad, he served as her primary trainer. Marcelo is still a great fan of his daughter’s UFC career and has a tattoo on his bicep honoring her submission victory against Emily Whitmire.
