NXIVM, which stood for “Executive Success Programs” (ESP), was an organization led by Keith Raniere that presented itself as a self-help and personal development group.

Within NXIVM, Allison Mack held a prominent position and was involved in various aspects of the organization. She was known to be one of Raniere’s closest associates and played a key role in recruiting women into a secret society within NXIVM called DOS (Dominus Obsequious Sororium), which has been described as a “master-slave” group.

Mack’s involvement in DOS included coercing and manipulating women into providing potentially damaging or embarrassing information as a means of control.

Some women involved in DOS were subjected to physical branding as part of a ritual. Mack herself was reported to have been branded with Raniere’s initials.

In April 2018, Allison Mack was arrested and indicted on charges of sex trafficking, sex trafficking conspiracy, and forced labor conspiracy related to her involvement in NXIVM and DOS.

Mack was sentenced to three years in jail, three years of probation, 1,000 hours of community service, and a $20,000 fine on June 30, 2021. Mack was assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution, Dublin, in Dublin, California, in September 2021. After serving 21 months of her three-year sentence, she was freed early on July 3, 2023.
