Aline Kominsky-Crumb, a pioneering cartoonist, died at her home in France, on November 29, 2022 according to social media reports. She was 74 years old.

Although no further information is available, she died after a long illness. Her local comic shop/gallery was the first to report the news.

Kominsky-Crumb is regarded as one of the first underground cartoonists to experiment with autobiographical comics (Justin Green, who also passed this year, being another).

Her stylized, witty work influenced her husband, Robert Crumb, in his own move to more personal comics, and the two worked together frequently over the last two decades.
Kominsky-Crumb was also a painter in addition to her work in comics. She shifted her focus from comics to painting after moving to France.
Need More Love: A Graphic Memoir, a collection of her comics and paintings, as well as photographs and autobiographical writings, was released in February 2007.
In 2018, Drawn and Quarterly expanded Kominsky-Love Crumb’s That Bunch, which was first published in 1990, with new comics and an introduction by Hillary Chute.
Aline is survived by her husband, Robert, and daughter Sophie, both of whom are cartoonists, as well as her grandson, Eli.
