Alexis Arquette born Robert Arquette was an American actress.

In 2006, Arquette underwent gender-transitioning medical treatment in the form of hormone therapy and sex reassignment surgery.
This was documented in the film Alexis Arquette: She’s My Brother, which debuted at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival.
Arquette contracted HIV in 1987. As a result of being HIV-positive, she suffered from ill-health in later life.
Arquette was placed in a medically induced coma and died on September 11, 2016, at age 47 from cardiac arrest caused by myocarditis stemming from HIV.

Alexis was the fourth of five children of Lewis Arquette, an actor and director, and his wife Brenda Denaut, a Jewish actress, theater operator, and therapist.
Actors Rosanna, Richmond, Patricia, and David Arquette are her siblings.
Alexis’s grandfather was comedian Cliff Arquette, famed as Charley Weaver.
Arquette was distantly related to American explorer Meriwether Lewis.
