New York representative and law maker, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, has confirmed her engagement to her longtime boyfriend, Riley Roberts.

“We got engaged last month in my family’s hometown in Puerto Rico,” Ocasio-Cortez said via Twitter. “No future details yet, we’re taking some space to savor this time before diving into planning”, she added.
The lovebirds met in 2011, while they were undergraduates at Boston University. It was at a rowdy keg party cum conversation hosted by the dean and from there they became friends.
They had dated for a while but broke up and then Roberts relocated to Arizona.

Robert was often described as an “easygoing redhead,” while at the University. He now works as a web developer.
Although, critics on social media are of the view that Roberts doesn’t fit the stereotype of a politician’s partner, but he has been a major supporter of Alexandria’s career and that is one of the reasons she chose him.
“He doesn’t seem focus-grouped or media-trained for state dinners and press conferences. We know he’s supportive and encouraging in private,” a critic wrote.
