Alec Martinez is a professional ice hockey player who currently plays as a defenseman for the Vegas Golden Knights in the National Hockey League (NHL). He is the son of Frank and Lynette Martinez.

Alec Martinez began his hockey career in the United States Hockey League (USHL) before moving on to play college hockey at Miami University in Ohio.
After completing his collegiate career, he was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the fourth round, 95th overall, of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Martinez made his NHL debut with the Los Angeles Kings during the 2009-2010 season. Martinez scored the series-clinching overtime goals in both the 2012 Western Conference Finals and the 2014 Stanley Cup Finals, earning him a place in Kings’ history.
In February 2020, Martinez was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights, where he has continued to make significant contributions to the team’s defensive corps.
