Alec Head Wife: Who Is Ghislaine Head?

Late French horse trainer and breeder, Alec Head, was married to his wife Ghislaine.

Ghislaine had worked together with Alec to develop their family farm – Haras du Quesnay.

In 1959, they brought in the farm’s first stallion.

The couple bought horses from Europe and the United States and the farm later became the leading stud farms in France.

What Happened To Alec Head?

Alec head passed away from natural causes on June 22, 2022, at age 97.

He is survived by his children Freddy and Criquette and his grandson Christopher.

Alec Head Horse Racing Career

Head was a former jockey, a well sought after trainer, a seminal breeder and an all round Pro in the horse racing sport.

Head is a four-time winner of the Arc de Triomphe, the first race that took place in Europe.

He had also won the Derby once.

His first ever victory came in 1952 and seven years down the line, he won the race at Saint Crespin. He then had his final win in 1981 with Gold River.

At the 1956 Epsom Derby, Head was declared winner over Lavandin, who was the best at the time in Britain and Ireland.

He earned the name “patriarch of racing” while in France because he had recorded most of his success there.

Head’s favourite horse is Treve.
