Pyun was recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and dementia. Cynthia Curnan, his wife and producer, had been providing regular updates on his condition in recent months.

She recently urged fans to send personal messages to the director as his health deteriorated.

Cynthia Curnan confirmed Pyun’s death on Facebook, writing, “I sat with him for his last breath, which sounded like he was letting go of the weight of the world.”

Pyun had been working on two unfinished features before his death, hoping to rework them into a six-part TV series, according to his wife. “Failure was never an option for Albert,” she wrote.

Pyun’s films include The Sword and the Sorcerer, Cyborg, Captain America, and Nemesis. Pyun was respected for his ability to mount resourceful productions with quick turnarounds.
