Alastair Little was a self-taught chef who is credited with raising the bar for restaurants in London.

Little died on August 3, 2022, in Australia, at the age of 72. The circumstances of his death are unknown. Alastair is survived by his children and his second wife Sharon
Little transformed British cuisine by emphasising simple meals made with fresh ingredients. He began working at the French restaurant L’Escargot in Soho in 1981.

On August 3, 2022, restaurateur Jeremy Lee led tributes to the late chef on Instagram, writing: “There goes a great man, Little was a godfather of modern British cooking and a champion of keeping it simple.” His cooking was simply amazing.”

The Michelin Guide UK also paid tribute: “Alastair Little was a self-taught, intelligent & articulate chef who was ahead of his time.
His eponymous Soho restaurant influenced a generation of chefs & restaurateurs and the British food scene owes him so much. We send our deepest condolences to his family and friends.”
Tom Parker Bowles said: “Such a lovely man. And what a cook. One of the most influential chefs of his generation. His books will endure forever.”
