Behind her remarkable journey is a supportive family that has played a crucial role in shaping her path to success. Born Deaf to parents Elena and Bill Cox, Alaqua Cox hails from the Menominee Indian Reservation in Keshena, Wisconsin.

She is a proud member of the Menominee and Mohican nations, with deep roots in Native American culture and traditions. Her background and heritage have not only added depth to her identity but have also contributed to her unique perspective in the world of entertainment.

Growing up, Alaqua Cox was not alone in her journey. She is one of four siblings, with brothers Will and Jordan and sister Katie by her side. Her family’s unwavering support and encouragement have been instrumental in her pursuit of a career in acting.

As a young student, Cox attended the Wisconsin School for the Deaf, where she honed her skills and talents both in the classroom and on the sports field. Her participation on the girls’ basketball team from 2014 to 2015 and her contributions to the volleyball team showcased her dedication and determination.

However, it was in the world of acting that Alaqua Cox truly found her calling. Her remarkable breakthrough came when she was cast as Maya Lopez, also known as Echo, in the Disney+ series “Hawkeye” in 2021. This pivotal role marked a significant moment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and was a testament to her talent and the changing landscape of diversity and representation in Hollywood.
