Al Strobel, best known for playing Philip Gerard in the cult classic 90s drama Twin Peaks, died at the age of 83 on December 2, 2022. His cause of death has not been made public.

Sabrina Sutherland, producer announced Strobel’s death on Facebook Saturday, December 3 2022, writing, “I’m sorry to report that Al Strobel died last night. I cherished him.”
Soon after Sutherland posted the sad news on Facebook, screenshots of the post began to circulate online, and tributes from the Twin Peaks crew and fans alike poured in for the actor.
Mark Frost, the series’ co-creator, was one of the first to pay tribute to Strobel: “Oh no…Dear Al…as those of you lucky enough to have met him over the years, what a warm and wonderful gentleman he was. RIP, friend,” he wrote.

He appeared in the Twin Peaks series and Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, as well as the films Shadow Play, Megaville, and Ricochet River. He appeared in Romeo and Juliet, Oklahoma, and Richard III productions. In addition, he appeared in the television film Child of Darkness, Child of Light
