The father of award-winning Ghanaian highlife musician Akwaboah Jnr, Kwadwo Akwaboah Snr, has died.

On Tuesday, May 16, Akwaboah Jnr announced his father’s death on Instagram with the remark “RIP Daddy.”
Kwadwo Akwaboah had lost both eyesight before his death. Despite his vision problems, Kwadwo Akwaboah played musical instruments in a handful of social media videos.
Kwadwo Akwaboah is well known as the singer of the hit song “Awerekyekyere,” which he recently reworked alongside his son, Akwaboah Jnr.

The song’s reworking, which was backed by a superbly recorded studio performance, drew a lot of attention and received a lot of broadcasts.
Akwaboah Snr. was also an accomplished keyboardist who performed with numerous local and international bands.
