President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo welcomed Senegal’s President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye to Ghana on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Jubilee House, Ghana’s presidential seat.

Faye, aged 44, Africa’s youngest elected leader, arrived in Ghana as part of his two-nation visit, having previously met with Nigerian President Bola Tinubu.
During their meeting, the leaders discussed bilateral relations covering trade, education, hydrocarbons, and subregional affairs, as per updates on the Senegal presidency’s social media page.
Following their discussions, Akufo-Addo and Faye addressed a joint press conference, emphasizing the importance of strengthening ties between their countries.

Faye’s visit to Ghana marked another step in his diplomatic engagements since assuming office in March. He has visited several West African nations, including The Gambia, Mauritania, Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau, and Nigeria.
After their fruitful discussions, President Faye departed Ghana and returned to Dakar, Senegal.
President Akufo-Addo highlighted the significance of President Faye’s visit, emphasizing the enduring friendship and cooperation between Ghana and Senegal. Discussions encompassed enhancing economic cooperation, exploring new avenues for collaboration, and reinforcing democratic values and regional stability.
The visit reaffirmed the rich history of partnership and mutual support between Ghana and Senegal, further solidifying their bonds of brotherhood and shared progress.
