Speaking at the closing session of the Third African Media Convention (AMC) in Accra, Akufo-Addo emphasized that the nation’s security agencies remain dedicated to bringing the perpetrators to justice.
“The efforts of the law enforcement agencies to bring the killers of Hussein-Suale to book continues no matter how long it takes,” the President assured.
Ahmed Hussein-Suale was tragically murdered in January 2019 in Madina, near Accra, while driving home. The journalist was shot three times by two unidentified men on motorbikes, leading to his immediate death.
Despite ongoing investigations, the motive behind his murder remains unresolved, and the killers are still at large.

Hussein-Suale was a member of Tiger Eye, a team of undercover investigative journalists led by Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
His work had exposed human traffickers, corrupt officials, and judiciary staff across Africa. His death shocked the media fraternity, given Ghana’s notable record of press freedom.
The murder has drawn widespread condemnation from global human rights organizations, civil society groups, and media bodies.
During the AMC, the African Editors’ Forum, represented by its President Churchill Otieno, urged the Ghanaian government to intensify efforts to bring Hussein-Suale’s killers to justice.
President Akufo-Addo, in his keynote address, highlighted the government’s commitment to protecting journalists’ rights and safety, stating that media freedom is fundamental to democracy and development.
