Akufo-Addo Appoints Joe Ghartey as Chair of GRA Board

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Joe Ghartey, Member of Parliament for Essikado-Ketan, as the new Board Chair of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

This appointment comes following the resignation of the former GRA Board Chair, Tony Oteng-Gyasi, and the removal of former GRA Commissioner-General Ammi­shaddai Owusu-Amoah.

In light of these changes, Julie Essiam has been appointed as the new GRA Commissioner-General by President Akufo-Addo.

The Ministry of Finance has confirmed that the newly reconstituted and inaugurated GRA Board will be headed by Hon. Joe Ghartey.

Other members of the board include Dr. Alex Ampaabeng, Ms. Julie Essiam, Hon. Micheal Okyere Baafi, Mrs. Elsie Addo Awadzi, Madam Susan Akomea, Mrs. Araba Bosomtwe, and Mr. Kwabena Abankwah Yeboah.

Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, the Minister of Finance, has tasked the new GRA Board with leveraging ongoing digitalization efforts to streamline tax administration and reduce reliance on manual processes.

The new board has also been directed to enhance the implementation of the Integrated Tax Administration System (ITAS), strengthen the capacity of officers, and improve the quality of data analysis for informed decision-making.
