Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun has assured to cover the medical expenses of students injured in the roof collapse at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife.

The affected students are currently receiving treatment at both the University Health Centre and the Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife.
Represented by the Commissioner for Education, Dipo Eluwole, Adeleke conveyed his sympathy to the University management and parents of the affected students over the unfortunate incident.
This assurance was conveyed in a statement released by the University’s Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olarewaju, in Ile-Ife on Saturday.
During his visit, the commissioner was accompanied around the incident site by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Simeon Bamire, and other key University officials. He also visited the two health facilities where the students are undergoing treatment.

Eluwole expressed satisfaction that the affected students are responding well to treatment and praised the university management for their swift response and the prompt medical attention provided to the students.
While speaking to the four students being treated at the University Health and Medical Centre, the commissioner commended their courage and wished them a speedy recovery.
At the Neurological ward of the University Teaching Hospital, where two other students are receiving treatment, Eluwole urged their parents to consider the incident as a natural occurrence.
He then informed the vice-chancellor that Governor Adeleke has pledged to cover all medical expenses incurred during the students’ treatment.
In response, the vice-chancellor expressed gratitude to the governor for his kindness and care, emphasizing his commendable fatherly role towards the students and the people of Osun.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that heavy rain accompanied by a whirlwind on Thursday morning caused a part of the ceiling of the Amphitheatre to collapse, injuring some students.
