Adam Buxton is the son of Nigel Buxton & Valerie Birrell. His father was a travel writer and wine critic who appeared on The Adam and Joe Show as Baaaad Dad and his mother was Chilean.

Buxton was educated at Windlesham House School in Pulborough, West Sussex, and the Westminster School, London.

Buxton has collaborated on several occasions with the band Radiohead. He assisted with a 2007 webcast from their studio and co-directed the videos for the 2008 singles, Jigsaw Falling into Place” and Nude and many others.
Buxton released the audiobook version of his autobiography, Ramble Book, in April 2020, published by HarperCollins.
