Actor Zack Norman, known “The Nanny” and “Romancing the Stone,” dies at 83.

Actor Zack Norman, renowned for his roles in “The Nanny” and “Romancing the Stone,” has passed away at the age of 83 in Burbank, California, due to natural causes.

Norman’s daughter, Lori Zuker Briller, paid tribute to her father in a Facebook post.

“Wherever you drifted off to, I know everything just got livelier,” she wrote. “You were the most enigmatic person wherever you went. The best father, husband, grandfather and friend, you brought so many laughs and so much enrichment to all of our lives.”

Norman’s career spanned various mediums, beginning with off-Broadway plays in the 1960s, followed by successful stints as a touring stand-up comedian.

Transitioning into films, Norman appeared in several movies, notably collaborating with director Henry Jaglom in productions such as “Tracks” (1977) and “Sitting Ducks” (1980).

However, he gained widespread recognition for his role as Cousin Ira in Robert Zemeckis’ “Romancing the Stone,” alongside Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner. Additionally, he portrayed Harry in the 1990 film “Cadillac Man,” featuring Robin Williams and Fran Drescher.

Norman’s television credits included guest appearances on “The Nanny,” where he worked alongside Fran Drescher, and roles in popular shows like “The A-Team” and “Baywatch.”

Beyond acting, Norman made significant contributions as a producer and financier, notably being involved in the Oscar-winning documentary “Hearts and Minds” (1974), which played a pivotal role in shaping public perception of the Vietnam War.

Zack Norman leaves behind his wife, Nancy; sister Jane; daughters Lori and Tracy; sons Stephen and Michael, and a host of grandchildren. His legacy as a versatile actor and passionate advocate for art will endure in the hearts of many.
