Cuba Gooding Jr. was scheduled to stand trial on Aug. 24, 2013, on allegations that he raped her twice at the Mercer Hotel in Soho.

The trial was scheduled to start at 10 a.m. in Manhattan federal court, but at 10:24 a.m., a note in the case stated that “the parties have resolved the matter.” The settlement terms were not disclosed.

The woman was suing for $6 million in damages. Nine people, including Gooding and his accuser, had been named as potential witnesses for the three-to-four-day trial.

Despite the settlement, Gooding’s lawyers maintained that he and the woman had consensual sex and that the woman later boasted to others about having sex with a celebrity. 30 women had accused Gooding of unwanted sexual touching as of August 2020.
